We're continuously learning of ways that we can help to support the awareness of Down syndrome.  Here are some ideas for you:

• Adopt a MOUSE and help researchers make a BIG IMPACT on the lives of people with DS
• Participate in the Buddy Walk in your community - "The Buddy Walk was established in 1995 to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome."  If there isn't a Buddy Walk in your community, you can organize a Buddy Walk.   The Buddy Walk in the Austin area is on Sunday, Oct. 14th this year at Reunion Ranch in Georgetown.  Hope to see you there!!!
• Volunteer your time or make a donation to the Austin-area chapter of the Down Syndrome Association of Central Texas.
• Volunteer or make a donation to the Down Home Ranch.  It is located about 20 minutes outside of Austin.  "The mission of Down Home Ranch is to build a rural, self-reliant community for adults with mental retardation, offering training, housing, recreation, and dignified employment, as well as opportunities for growth in mind, body, and spirit.  Down Home Ranch seeks to be faithful to the Christian mission to provide for those in need."
• Make a donation to the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS).  "The mission of the National Down Syndrome Society is to benefit people with Down syndrome and their families through national leadership in education, research and advocacy."
• Be-friend someone in your community with Down syndrome and spend time doing things that you may enjoy together.
• Educate others on Down syndrome.  The more aware society is, the more accepting they will
